This might be one of the most adorable rescue missions the internet will ever see.
A cute sloth, a super cute sloth actually, was clinging to a metal post on the side of the highway as if he was wondering where to go from there.
You might already be familiar with the fact that sloths aren’t exactly fast travelers. In fact, they only move about 40 yards per day, and that’s through the canopy munching on leaves, twigs and buds. That is what these sluggish tree dwellers basically do their whole life, except sleeping for like 15 to 20 hours per day due to their really low metabolic rate.
The unexpected visitor was spotted in Quevedo, Ecuador. The local police were informed about the situation and then they came to ‘scoop up’ the sloth.
The long-limbed adventurer was taken to the vet after being picked up by Ecuadorian traffic officers.
The officers waited until the checkup was over and then took him back to the forest near where he was found once they made sure the sloth was in good health.
Since we are living in a digital world, of course they took pictures and uploaded them on Facebook. We also got to be in that moment because of that. Lucky us!
Should we hope that he won’t try to cross the road again?
